Safari Technology Preview 23 Release Notes

Overview

Safari Technology Preview Release 23 is now available for download for macOS Sierra. If you already have Safari Technology Preview installed, you can update from the Mac App Store’s Updates tab. This release covers WebKit revisions 210845-211256.

Gamepads

Fixed Gamepad support for PS4 controllers (r211220)
Exposed more directional pads for other types of gamepads (r211231)

Pointer Lock

Fixed sending Pointer Lock events directly to the target element (r211235)
Fixed page requests to re-establish Pointer Lock without a user gesture after being released without a user gesture (r211249)

Media

Added client notification when the user plays media otherwise prevented from autoplaying (r211226)

Accessibility

Fixed Speak Selection for <iframe> elements (r211095)

Web Inspector

Added a way to trigger Garbage Collection (r211075)

Bug Fixes

Fixed Flash object placeholder painting when Safari reloads pages with Flash objects after Flash is installed (r211114)
Improved switching between GPUs for WebGL content in order to maximize battery life (r211244)
